Magic Keyboard Without Bluetooth

broken image

The Keychron K1 is the perfect introductory mechanical keyboard for users coming from Apple's Magic Keyboard. It offers customization and the look and feel of mechanical keyboards without being too. I read the Apple Magic Keyboard can work wired with a Mac without the bluetooth. And I read some USB keyboards are working with the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter. There are several keyboards having a lightning cable (e.g. Belkin or Logitech), but none with the Canadian Multilingual layout. If you've been longing for a full-size Magic keyboard, you can use without having to connect it to your computer, then the wait is over. Apple has finally released a Bluetooth Magic Keyboard with Numerical Keypad and it's awesome.

For Bluetooth pairing no additional software is required, it is fully handled by Windows.
There is no need to install the Magic Utilities to pair your device.

Apple's redesigned Magic Keyboard is everything Apple fans (and others) could want from a minimal Bluetooth keyboard design. Older Magic Keyboards had a rolled base that propped the keyboard's. But because the keyboard was paired to the broken macbook, the keyboard won't pair with other devices. So I'd like to know if there is a way to force unpair the keyboard without needing access to the original paired device. (Like, if I buy a new mac and connect the keyboard via wire, would it be possible to reset the keyboard?) Thanks.

Select your keyboard model:

Apple Wireless Keyboard - with 2 or 3 AA batteries in silver

Pair Magic Keyboard Pc

Magic Keyboard (small or large) - rechargeable in silver , or space gray

USB support

In case you have Bluetooth issues, you can also connect your Magic Keyboard with the provided USB to lighting cable directly with the computer.

Prepare for pairing

Magic Keyboard Without Bluetooth

Animal crossing new leaf nouveau look. For fastest pairing, turn off Bluetooth on all other nearby devices.
This includes mobile phones, laptops and desktop computers as well as Bluetooth speakers.

  • Make sure you have 2 or 3 fresh AA batteries inserted at the right side of your keyboard.

Bring your keyboard into pairing mode

  • Turn the keyboard on: Press and hold the power button and wait until the little green light above the power switch is blinking. Sometimes you need to release the power button and press and hold it again.
  • Make sure your Magic Keyboard is charged. A new keyboard is already charged by Apple otherwise charging for 10 minutes is enough.

Bring your keyboard into pairing mode

  • At the back of the keyboard, turn your Magic Keyboard off and back on again.

Pair your keyboard

  • Double click the Bluetooth icon in the Windows taskbar. If you can't see the Bluetooth icon,
click on the + symbol below for detailed instructions.
    • Click on the little up arrow on the right side of the taskbar.
    • If there is still no Bluetooth icon it might be removed from the taskbar icons.
    • Search Windows for Bluetooth settings or Add a device or refer to your Windows Help System on how to add a device.
    • On Windows 10 select Settings > Devices
  • Select Add Bluetooth or other device.
  • Select Bluetooth.
  • Select your keyboard from the devices listed, it can take a little while until the keyboard appears.
  • Follow the instructions.

If a numeric code is requested either:

Magic
  • Enter a given numeric code on the Apple Wireless Keyboard and press return.
  • Enter 1234 on an existing main keyboard (can be the on-screen keyboard) and click Allow (or press Enter), now enter 1234 on the Apple Wireless Keyboard and press return.

Verify pairing

In Windows 10, sometimes your device is paired, but is not working. Volume macintosh hd is full.

In Settings > Devices make sure your device is listed in the Mouse, keyboard & pen section.
If it's listed in the Other devices section it won't work.

Here is what did help:

  • Delete your device from Other devices and wait a bit.
  • Disable the Bluetooth radio
  • Enable the Bluetooth radio again.
  • Pair your device again.
  • Double-check if it's now appearing in the Mouse, keyboard & pen section.

Once the keyboard is paired it should work as a generic keyboard. However on the small keyboards some keys are missing, especially the Ins, Del, Home, End, Page Up and Page Down keys.

If you can type standard characters it's time to install the Magic Utilities.

Note: If pairing doesn't work in the first place, installing the Magic Utilities does not help either.
In case you have constant Bluetooth issues, follow this comprehensive guide.
